Hannah freedom school

Hannah freedom school

Learn and have fun with us this summer! The Hannah Project Freedom School is a summer enrichment program for 3rd - 8th grade youth that focuses on closing the academic achievement gap through reading and character building.  Arts & crafts, sports, drama, music, and field trips are integrated into the daily schedule and are only a portion of the exciting activities that make Freedom School an unforgettable experience. Grounding our programming in a culturally rich and social-justice focused curriculum, Freedom School fosters the development of  social, academic, and leadership skills that help each scholar gain the voice and confidence to know they can make a difference and  ensures they will walk into the next school year stronger and better prepared. Family engagement is vital to the success of the program and parents are encouraged to volunteer. Freedom School operates daily from 8 am - 4pm, June 20th-July 28th.

SPORTS ZONE with Marin City CSD & Play Marin

SPORTS ZONE with Marin City CSD & Play Marin

“Sports Zone” summer program is for children who are in kindergarten through 8th grade. Our work addresses two fundamental challenges Marin City youth face: Adequate access to extracurricular and athletic opportunities and lack of racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity in the broader Marin community. Through the opportunities provided by Play Marin, students learn valuable skills, build friendships, develop grit, and improve their prospects for a successful future. Come play with us! Play Marin’s program runs from 8 am to 4 pm every day. Fridays are fun field trip days! Play Marin operates from June 20th to August 11th.
Bridge the Gap

Bridge the Gap

Bridge the Gap will work with kindergarteners through second graders, and a small group of 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Children will meet with credentialed teachers for two intensive hours in the morning to improve their reading and math. They will also spend time paired with volunteers to read books, play math games and have fun at recess. After lunch students will participate in afternoon activities with Play Marin. Bridge the Gap runs from 8 am to 12:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. On Fridays Bridge the Gap and Play Marin will go on field trips together. Bridge the Gap will also offer “After Camp Care” from 4 to 6 pm daily, except for the week of August 8th-11th.
Summer Bridge

Summer Bridge

For students who will be in Kindergarten next year, the curriculum supports children’s transition with academic, social and emotional, and nutritional and physical health activities. The program runs from 8 am to 12 noon every day for 5 weeks, from June 20th through July 21. Children must attend all five weeks. A morning snack is provided. (Families of children who will be in kindergarten next year should consult their current teacher to determine if the Bridge the Gap or Summer Bridge program is appropriate.) Please contact LaDonna Clark at lbonner@smcsd.org to enroll in Summer Bridge.
