A joint committee consisting of the boards of the Sausalito Marin City School District and Willow Creek Academy is working on an implementation plan for opening a unified school in fall of 2021. The draft that is being developed calls for one school with two campuses: K-5 in Sausalito and TK/6-8 in Marin City. At the joint meeting on October 21, the committee built consensus around a projected staffing model, pending a more detailed budget analysis. At the committee meeting on November 9 the boards again focused on staffing and budget. Additional work will be required to reach a final consensus, at which point the committee will pass a joint resolution approving the plan. Design teams from each school will then take over the work. The design teams will bring a detailed plan forward, and both organizations will then sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) commemorating next steps, hopefully in January.
